Since 2011, Tori moved overseas to Barcelona from Nashville. She spends most of her time on the road all over the world. In the last two years alone, Tori played has played shows in 23 countries. A stunning live performer, Tori walks the line between soulful and hilarious, blending ironic stand-up style humor with inventive songs written in English, Spanish, and occasionally French. She has played to 30 people in a house concert, and to 30,000 people at prestigious music festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and Bele Chere in Asheville, (In)Fusion Flamenca and the Voll-Damm Festival Internacional de Jazz in Spain, Su La Testa in Italy, South by Southwest at Austin and Womex Thessaloniki, Greece.
She has released five critically acclaimed albums under the auspices of her own record label (Glass Mountain Records), including her most recent work El Mar, a bilingual collaboration with Spanish flamenco fusion trio Calamento. Called “indescribable, incredible” (Deruting), “adventurous, pushing the envelope”(Rolling Stone), and “unique, an amazing work” (Orpheo), the new album El Mar is the culmination of Tori’s varied musical and cultural experiences since she first started touring over a decade ago at the age of 17. Tori has been interviewed and/or reviewed by Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times blog, NPR, The Village Voice, Paste, Radio3 Radio 4, Americana UK, Rock in Spain, All Music Guide (5 stars), El Mundo, and many more.
El Mar was recorded in Feelback Studio in Barcelona by engineer César J. de Cisneros, who was awarded a Grammy in 2007 for his work on the Ojos de Brujo album Techari. Calamento, the Spanish musicians who form a part of the El Mar project, are also veterans of the live music scene. The trio formed in Barcelona 16 years ago, and since then have mainly performed in Spain and Continental Europe. Calamento is percussionist Javi Garcia, guitarist Pepe Camacho, and bassist Ramon Vague.
The fifth member of the El Mar project is guitar maestro El Rubio, who is best known for his work with Rosario Flores, Color Humano, 08001, and Lenacay. As of now they are rehearsing and recording the songs for their follow up album, to be released in January 2017.
