Nakany Kanté was born in Siguiri, Guinea Conakry, close to the Mali border where great masters of the Mandingo music were born, such as Sékouba Bambino, a member of Bembeya Jazz and one of the vocalists of Africando. In 2009 she moved to Barcelona and started her musical project with traditional roots receiving the support of the local musical scene in the Catalan city and participated in the project Afroesfera 2011 and subsequently toured throughout Spain..
In 2012 she recorded her first album “Saramaya” with the label Slow Walk Music, specialized in African music. An ambitious project where the evolution of this young artist is palpable, without renouncing her roots different styles are introduced in her music such as souous, afro reggae or even some pop flavors.
The live shows are her strength with a tight band helping reflect all her light and talent. This must be why it has reached to the ranking 5th place on the national best live performances in 2015 by Rockdelux. Nakany has been presenting her album in Spain, France, England, Austria and Guinea Conakry, for festivals like Rototom, Jazz and the City (Au.), Mandengue Festival (Fr.), Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, FIMPT, Mas i mas and Contemporary Fusion Festival.
Right now she is presenting her second album “Naka”, where lyrics still display her social concern, tells us about personal experiences that shaped her life, truth and lies, African popular
texts, fate, revenge, forgiveness, temporality, inequality between men and women or children abandoned on the streets.
